This album is the soundtrack to our pregnancy. I sing Lullaby of Birdland to my belly a couple of times a day, and PB has been singing I'm Glad There Is You. Unfortunately there is only one of us that is a sweet songbird. (Definitely not me...)I've heard stories about children knowing pieces of music they listened to in the womb.
Did you have any favourite music to listen to during pregnancy?
I used to listen to classical music especially Beethoven.
ReplyDeleteAnna I wanted to ask you if you have a baby wishlist?
Omg, I love Sarah Vaughan, I grew up one her music! Great choice.
ReplyDeleteYes. One day my parents were at home listening to a record by the Rolling Stones. I told them "I remember this concert, I like this music". Mum replied, "No that's not possible, we went to see the Rolling Stones before you were born". Turns out she was at the time pregnant with me. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteAnother friend who is pregnant right now recently went to see ACDC live, hahaha! Rock out little bean!
Cass – that's awesome! I love that your mum went to a Stones gig when she was pregnant. And that you recognised it!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Baby Bear will have a strong love of Jazz? (I think it would make PB very happy!)
Katyha – no we don't have a wishlist. I've thought about it but not sure... Would you recommend one?
I took the monster to see Eric Bibb and Kate Rusby when she was in the womb, both of which she loves now. Fanf played her lots of David Bowie, also still a firm favourite. Actually she loves music generally and demands for me to put CDs on. She even gets grumpy if there is too long a pause between songs because she thinks I've stopped the music! xxx
ReplyDeletep.s. I also sang to her all the time when I was pregnant and this was the one thing that calmed her instantly when she was a little squalling ratbag.
ReplyDeleteI would definately recommend a wishlist, I would love to be able to send you a little something for your bub & you!!
ReplyDeleteI've played a lot of Fleet Foxes and Blind Pilot, so I'm hoping bean loves the folky stuff as much as I do. And last night I even played my hip hop mix from my running days and bean was all over the place in there!
ReplyDeleteWe're getting so close!
Thanks Katyha – that is so sweet of you! If we make one up I will be sure to post it on the blog. xx
ReplyDeleteI listened to the Modern Jazz Quartet's "Porgy and Bess" all the time while pregnant. It carries through. My little one likes... loves it still. It has gone from bedtime music to all the time music to (somedays) the only music.
