29.4.10

I can't quite get it together this week. I'm not particularly tired but my brain just won't function properly. I feel like crawling into bed and waking up next Monday.

This is what I've done:
  • Left oven on (twice)
  • Put tub of muesli in fridge, then tear down whole kitchen looking for it later. (It usually sits on top of the microwave...)
  • Search my bag approximately 56 times looking for BB's pink hat. At least half of those instances I tipped out the entire contents onto the floor.
  • Find BB's hat the next day, in same bag.
  • Forget to take pegs with me when going to hang out washing, every time. (This results in trip back around the corner and up the stairs...)
  • Leave camera on kitchen sink (why?)
  • Mistaken whole knob of butter on bench for cous-cous. Shove said item into mouth.

This morning we went for a drive up to Mona Vale. PB had a surf and then watched BB while I had a swim. I love that it is the middle of Autumn and the water is still 23 degrees. We went for a walk to a cafe and got smoothies and read the paper. On the way back I saved this little butterfly from the waves. When his wings dried off and he was ready to fly again he headed straight for the water. Yup, I hear ya buddy. I left him there the second time.

I think I feel human again after that outing. Although best to wait until next week before stepping back into the kitchen.

  1. too funny Anna sorry to say that these things happen after baby..good to write weird happenings down as its good to look back on. DB went for surf at bells this morning, wish I could go in for swim but the water temp in vic drops as soon as summer is over!

  2. These things do happen less often to me now than they used to, but they never seem to stop completely. I think they just add to our charm in a quirky special kind of way. That is what I am telling myself anyway....

  3. My brain went a bit fruit loopy when I was breastfeeding. Fanf got into the habit of surreptitiously checking everything I touched. But babies have so much stuff you have to remember for them, and there's only so much space in my little brain. xxx

  4. Oh dear, sister... I smell the cumulative effect of constantly broken sleep. I remember one day I put deodorant on my face and packed coffee into the stovetop coffeepot and put it in the microwave.

Man, how good are your photos going to be when you get a better camera?? You shame me.

  5. Aaahh shame man Anna, can't believe all the moments you've been having. Had to laugh at the butter / cous cous thing. Not that we'd mind eating blobs of butter hey? xx

  6. Hi Anna, I love reading your post first thing in the morning, helps me start my day on the right foot! :)
And I have to say, I had a little chuckle when I read your post this morning... brings back memories of the early months with baby! It's what they call "Mama Brain" :) One day the list will get smaller of the little 'things' you do... but even 20 months later, I still find myself searching for (obvious) things as I try to rush out the door every morning! :)
ps. I love your photos! What kind of camera are you going to get that is better than the one you have??

  8. That's too funny! I've only recently discovered your blog and am expecting our first baby in a few months. It's quite an insight to read your journey!
I'm also jealous of your warm beaches at this time of year. I'm already forced into indoor swimming pools this time of year in Vic!

  9. Haha! Butter!

You left me a comment about kookaburras, and I wanted to tell you I watched a video of one laughing. I like how it tips its head all the way back--as if it's cackling about something really hilarious. I don't imagine it's very funny in the morning, though.

  10. Ah, the butter is hilarious. Ever since I had my boys, my brain has gone to jelly and I used to be a lawyer (using my brain in an analytical problem solving way with a memory for details). Now the sad sorry tale of my brain is that even with the use of TO Do Lists, I still confuse, forget whatever I am doing right in the middle of soing it. At least I rememebr to laugh about it, a few hours later!!!
    Have a happy confused day.

  11. bring on monday! why is it when a woman does search in her bag she can never find what she is looking for and it is always there the next day? seriously this is an issue, one I would like to know the answer to.

I am also loving the fact the water is so warm! we are very lucky. enjoy your weekend, hopefully more swimming.

  13. I swear I pushed my brain out with the baby. Two and a half years on it still hasn't returned. I'm wondering if it gets progressively worse with each baby?!?!
