27.6.10

Last week I received my weekly Kidspot update: Sometime around week 15 your small bundle that once stayed where you put her will now be on the move. One the move? Nope. BB's not on the move at all.

We don't worry too much about these official milestones – this is when they should roll, this is when the should crawl – generally taking a relaxed approach to this stuff, although it did make us think that perhaps we don't let her spend enough time on her own, as she's always being carried or cuddled. Over the last week we've made an effort to give her a bit more floor time, and it was evident straight away that she was trying to roll over. After watching her frustrate herself all week, today she finally got there. I turned around just in time to see the final flip-over, something I'm very grateful for. By the end of the day she had it mastered, and happily played up for a few photos. Although for now she can only roll one way. She can't turn left. Just like Zoolander.

  3. Oh my gosh how cute. I absolutely adore this age, and how they smile at themselves so proudly when they've accomplished something new. My baby nephew just learned to sit up, and he is so proud of himself every time he does it.

  11. Wow! She's growing so fast! I can't believe how quickly she's developing and progressing. And she's just so adorable, too!

Just wanted to thank you for your beautiful blog & candid posts.
I've been dropping by for a couple of months, but have never commented before.

I'm trying to work out how, and when, a baby will fit into our life, and your blog is helping me get my head around it all. You make it seem manageable and achievable, when everyone around me is telling me it's soooo hard & a real struggle.

So, many heart-felt thanks to you :)

I'm also a frequent dropper-inerer, but infrequent commenter. I LOVE your blog and wish I could know you in real life ;-)
Have to say this is one of the cutest series of pictures in the history of the internet. She's awfully pleased with herself in the last pic!
    I have a six-week-old boy and I can't wait till he's smiling like that!

  23. Oh man, she is beautiful. And I'm with you, never listen to those 'your baby should be doing this' things. I used to get myself worked up into a knot. Until I thought, well I am sure Scout's not going to be crawling when she's 18.

I can't believe how much BB has changed!! And boy oh boy, that smile is just divine!

  24. What precious pictures...you'll treasure them forever!

I remember when Kaius was working on his roll, he used to clutch the edge of his blanket and bring it around with him so that he ended up swaddling HIMSELF into a burrito. By the time he was done playing, he was just a nice tired swaddled bundle all done up beautifully for me to nurse and cuddle :-)
