What a response to the sleeping post. I loved reading through the individual stories. For those interested I feed little BB to sleep every night, at around 7pm, in our bed which now consists of a mattress on the floor. Sometimes it's seamless, other times she pinches, sticks her fingers up my nose, kicks and throws her body around the bed like a break-dancer. We're currently transitioning to one day sleep so often her bedtime is confused with another nap, and she wakes up after an hour or two to party for a while. Sleep at the moment is... challenging.

But more excitingly Babcia is back! I've yet to capture a photo of her, she's tricky. I was initially embarrassed to have my mum walk into my messy house, which I unsuccessfully tried to clean all week. With PB involved in the restaurant, I'm not doing so well with the cleaning. It's a funny thing, to have only one baby and struggle. It's a little pathetic, but try not to judge until you meet my little sprite. In the last week I've heard (in a non-negative observant way) Oh Gosh, She's Very Busy! Is She Always Like That? You'll Have Your Hands Full With That One! What Is She Doing? She's Quick! Oh A High Energy One?

BB. Baby Bear. Busy Bee. Not one for a tidy house.

  1. It's like that here too. Our bub is moving from two naps to one and seems unsure of when he wants to sleep. I found him standing up in his cot at 3am last night ready to rumble. Even when I clean up every night after he has gone to bed, it looks like someone chucked a hand grenade into our house by 8am in the morning...But that's OK. He's a great bub, and happy. Enjoy the time with Babcia!

  2. I'm with you 100%. Sometimes I think it's impossible to keep a clean house for more than 10 minutes. As I type my little one is pulling the trash bag out of the trash can.....my life.

  3. Your sleeping situation looks and sounds very similar to mine. My little boy is nearly 13 months, so is similar in age. I wrote about it recently too (actually, I think I'm always moaning about my lack of sleep on my blog)!

p.s. My house is mess! I just can't keep on top of it. Good luck! I very much enjoy following your lovely blog by the way :)

  4. If your house was perfect your energy would be going to the wrong place. Enjoying your child is much more important than trying to keep things tidy.

  5. Oh I can relate. Busy busy busy. Too bad we can't put them to work and teach them to enjoy vacuuming this young :)

My favourite observation about the non-stop busy-ness is from my daughter's Opa (paternal grandfather) who remarked the other day while watching her move from making one mess to the next that "she runs around like a fart in a windstorm". Perfect.

  7. My kitchen currently looks like that. And I don't have a small, spirited toddler attracting all my attention. Just a husband that loves to cook using every saucepan he can lay his hands on.

Hooray for the return of Babcia! Hope you're all having heaps of fun together xx

  10. Yes! This is our life. My mother- in-law comes over every Tuesday to help me and I used to race around the house and clean things up. Now our little girl is a year and I throw my hands in the air because I can never complete a task. She is always getting into something. My MIL is used to seeing the dishes in the sink now. :)

  12. This post made me smile! I always try to frantically clean the house before Babcia and Dziadziu arrive, but it's never as clean as my house was growing up. How did my mom do it? We have only one too, but she's also very active, so I've learned to let things go. Something's gotta give and baby wins over dishes. My perfectionism has gone out the window and there are good things about that too. :)

P.S. The sleep is bound to get better. We coslept for over a year, then transitioned to a crib which wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. C is now 1.5 Y.O. and still wakes up in the middle of the night, so I'll tuck her into bed with us if I'm too tired to do the whole rocking to sleep routine. Whatever, it works for us. And this too shall pass. Eventually, she'll grow out of this phase to sleep through the night in her own big kid bed (and onto the next challenge). Hang in there!!! :)

  13. I have 3 kids - a 5 year old, a 4 year old, and a 1.5 year old. The 1.5 year old takes 90% of my time. It doesn't matter how many kids you have, the toddlers are the ones that keep you busy :) Beautiful pictures, as always!

  14. Sounds like our place. In fact, it's our weekly question "how did we manage to get the flat in such a mess A-Gain?!" (because we are lucky to have a cleaning lady who comes one a week and even then it doesn't work out).

  15. you know, even if you did go bonkers & exhaust yourself with a big clean & tidy for your mum, although it's nice for half a day, it never lasts & within 24 hours it would be back to it's 'natural' state anyway.. that's how it is around my place anyways! x captn

  16. clean houses are for people who don't live in them. (or put another way, would you rather spend that 15 minutes every hour living or cleaning?)

i just discovered your blog via cup o jo and am really loving it. your daughter is adorable. i miss "ONE." I have two girlies (almost 3 and just 6.) my house is rarely clean and my father in law recently said to me about my youngest "wow. she's handful. i think you might have me your match in that one." um, what exactly does that say about me, sir? ;)
