We're almost at a point where time wise,  the clean-up doesn't exceed the painting.

BB's very interested in colours at the moment, and thankfully no preference for the pink one yet. I spoke to my small friend Matilda on Skype tonight, and when questioned was told her favourite was red. Good choice.

I remember this being key information to one's personality as a child. Even as an adult I find decisions regarding colour serious stuff and have been know to spend a freakishly long time choosing a new toothbrush. And now that I'm in charge of dental hygiene for the whole family? Well you can only imagine how such a selection would impact my supermarket trip.

For the record my favourite colour is yellow, and as a kid it was blue. What's yours?

  1. Mine is red, just like your small friend ;) As a child it was blue, just like you. When I was about 8 I saw a girl on tv and her name was Blue. Then I wanted that to be my name. Now I'd quite like my name to be Red. But I'll settle for being addressed in any manner that doesn't involve whining, screaming or crying. Mini-beasts take note. Bxxx

  2. great paint pots, where did you get them?
My little girl loves yellow, she screams 'yellow' every time we pass a yellow car. so cute.

  3. The paints are just Crayola, which I picked up at Officeworks. You get three of those rows in one pack – with rad colours! Much cheaper than getting individual ones.

  5. Have just purchased a yellow t-shirt this week! Makes a change from my usual black! Love purple too...

Poor BB's teeth! My friend has just taken her little 3 year old to the dentist because of her chipped teeth, she has to have it capped, as can cause infection as she won't lose them for another 3 years or so!

  6. Look at the sheer joy on BB's face. She is gorgeous Anna. Even more so covered in paint.

I don't really have a fave. It changes on a daily basis. Btw, didn't I read once that yours was green? The reason I remember is coz Oli and my sis are the only other people I know who are die-hard green lovers. Though Emerald may win me over...

As a child it was also red. Perfect match for any Aries. xx

  7. At the moment it is blue - royal blue. And yellow. And maybe pink (oh noes)! Pink because it was kind-a sort-a banned when I was a kid. And now I am rebelling. So we're a pink gang o'girls here. And that's ok.

  8. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one that agonises over the colour of our toothbrushes! I love colour. But my favourites for years has been pink (all shades) and white. I actually feel a little embarressed to say pink because I know so many women are totally against it... When I was little it was blue. Skye seems to love all colours...and I tend to dress her this way too. x

  9. Coincidence or not my three children - aged between 22 months and 15 years old - all prefer YELLOW! Fab choice, I say.

Anna I love all colours (like most) and am fascinated by choosing, say new yarn colours, and seeing colour combinations everywhere I go.

Dare I say (but I run the risk of you NEVER talking to me) that I have always had a penchant for pink. However as time passes I love greens more and more in every hue possible.

(I also love blues, greys, .... oh it is so hard to choose.)

  10. Green. Shade changes all the time, but I'm a die hard fan of the green stuff. Colour-wise that is. Mustard yellow can trump that occassionally though. We've had this conversation before - I'm as bad as you and colour choices can put me in real turmoil.

Gorgeous pictures of BB covered in paint xx

  11. Mine is gray, and it used to be blue. I, too, remember it being a Very Big Deal to state your favorite color. Now I'm wondering what my daughter's will be...

  12. oh my god. your babygirl is adorable.

  13. Haha – perhaps I did say it was once green :) I guess it changes often, too. It's always more about the combination than the singular – but I'm into shades of yellow at the moment. Mustard, egg-yolk and fluorescent. x

  14. Looks like you've passed your penchant for crazy coloured toes onto BB :)

I'm a green girl, myself. But I tend to gravitate towards more muted tones, faded and weathered. I'm sure as a kid I opted for saturation...and this is something I'm trying to keep in mind when chosing toys/decor for Lalie... trying not to let my own aesthetic preferences get in the way of creating a vibrant and stimulating world for her :) x

  15. Well it appears h I'm joining the masses with green. Although I don't think I ever wear green, it's just my favourite. How unoriginal I am.
All this rain .... all this painting. Kellie xx

  16. Yellow too!

Nice painting. I've been looking for non-toxic paint so I can maybe do some (messy) Christmas wrapping paper craft with my girl. But I did also find some edible (!) paint recipes online which might be even better for an 8 month old ;-)

  18. ahh just read your latest on colour! I concur yellow now and blue as a kid.. I do have a soft spot for orange too. Isn't it great to have colours in the world! p.s we've got the same paint set as BB.. but as you know our current art sessions are all about painting with water to spare the clean up. I'm sure he'll cotton on soon enough. x

  20. My wardrobe says blue but my heart says orange and yellow. Although I am warming to the combination of grey, green and electric mauve since they are the only colours I have been seeing in these parts lately. Grey skies and footpaths, green trees and foliage and the purples of jacaranda, hydrangea and agapanthus.

  21. I have to say my 3 year old has been tiny bit brainwashed with her friends at school and the best colours for her are pink and purple, big struggle to dress her in blue or grey...hopefully it will pass:)... cute photos !

  22. seriously , she is an artist. Look at that.

And oh my goodness- spirited in a sensory way, is she ever. I can feel that paint brush between my toes just by looking at the image. Wonderful Child, wonderful mother.
